About us

AkenaPlus Health, (AK+) formerly part of Akena Associates, is an international charitable, non-profit and non-governmental organization based in Kaduna, with offices in Abuja and Yola. We are grounded in science, technical know-how and best practice in health research, training and service delivery. We translate knowledge and experience into sustainable solutions for community health. By collaborating with local and international non-governmental organizations, health care facilities, schools and local governments, Akena+ Health assists public and private decision makers to find authentic, sustainable solutions to major health problems. Akena+ Health’s board comprises of national and international experts, and the firm is headed by Executive Director, Dr. Elizabeth Omoluabi.

Dr. Elizabeth Omoluabi holds a doctorate of philosophy (PhD) degree in demography (La Sorbonne, France), and has over 30 years of experience in Project Management, training and research in Nigeria, Senegal, Togo, South Africa and France. A trailblazer in electronic data collection systems, she has directed dozens of cutting edge, cellphone or tablet-based quantitative survey projects for several clients including Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI), DFID, The Palladium Group, University of California SF.

Dr. Omoluabi and Akena+ staff are also affiliated with the Centre for Research, Evaluation Resources and Development (CRERD), a non-profit, non­governmental organization concerned with improving the understanding and delivery of population and health services and environmental development in Nigeria (www.crerd.org). CRERD is based in lIe-lfe, Osun, Nigeria. Dr. Omoluabi is a Director at CRERD and was the Principal Investigator (PI) for the PMA2020 Nigeria survey program, an 11 country multi-million Dollar project started in Nigeria in 2014 (www.pmadata.org/program-countries/nigeria).
